Wednesday, November 1, 2017 - Saturday, November 4, 2017

Coaches Meeting and Practice Sessions will take place Wednesday evening and Matches will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, November 2nd. . The varsity final championship game will be on Saturday afternoon with the closing ceremonies immediately following.


This year we are excited to hold our tournament at a brand new state of the art volleyball facility. The Volleyball Academy is conveniently located near the Giles Road exit from I-80, 11934 Portal Rd, Omaha NE 68128>

The facility is 50,000 square feet and is free standing. There are no poles to obstruct or impede play. There are 8 spacious courts on a wood playing surface. Each court has a camera, and with a subscription to the buckets system, friends and family who aren't able to attend the tournament will be able to view their teams games.

Who May Participate

This tournament is open to girls on home school teams who have not turned 19 yrs of age prior to August 1 of the current school year. Players must be at least 50% home schooled, defined as parent directed home education, and passing all courses. Parent directed home education includes the following:

  1. Dual-credit college courses where the college institution admits the student as a high school student.
  2. Courses that are taught in the home/studio of the player's parent(s), grandparent(s), sibling (age 18 or older), legal guardian, or another home school parent or tutor, provided the instruction by a non-parent is done under the direction and supervision of the child's parent(s).
  3. Courses that are taught at a central location (e.g. home school support group "co-op" classes, such as chemistry, speech, or calculus) by a parent or tutor. A newer form of homeschooling called University Model Schools would fall under this definition provided:
    • The student doesn't attend the classes more than 2-1/2 days a week (because then not more than 50% of their time is actually at the school, while the other 50% is wherever their parents decide they should be)
    • The particular school in question does not itself provide athletics.
    • Not more than 50% of your team is made up of girls from the same University Model School.
  4. Correspondence/virtual/distance learning courses provided by a PRIVATE kindergarten through grade 12 program or school.

Courses taught or otherwise provided by a public or private school, where the player is counted in that school's enrollment, are not considered as part of the 50% of classes which are home school classes.

Once a player has completed high school coursework, or participated in high school graduation ceremonies, he or she is ineligible to participate in the NHSVBT tournament.

Junior High guidelines - Girls playing on junior high teams must be in grade 8 or lower. They should also not turn 15 before August 1 of the current school year. If you have any questions or exceptions, please contact the tournamnent director director@nhsvbt.org prior to attending the tournament.


EXCITING NEWS!For the second year in a row, we have been blessed by some extra funds being put into our tournament and we are passing some of this along to all of you! For this year, we will offer additional discounts from our usual registration fee as follows: So the correct registration prices for 2017 will be as follows:
  1. Varsity Tournament - $400.00 / varsity team (each team is guaranteed 8 games.) We offer an early bird discount of $50 off if you register by September 1, 2017
  2. JV Tournament - $350 / junior varsity team (each team is guaranteed 6 games.) Early bird discount of $50 applies to JV as well.
  3. Junior High Tournament - $200 / junior high team. Early bird discount of $50 also applies to junior high.
  4. Additional $50 discount if registering 2 teams by September 1, 2017 - called dual-entry early bird discount.
  5. Each team must submit their own registration form.
  6. Optional Wednesday Practice - $25.00 / team (one hour) Spots will be limited.

The registration deadline is October 1st, 2017. Early Bird discounts deadline is September 1st, 2017.

In order to take advantage of the dual-entry early bird discount, you will need to mail a check and deduct the additional $50 dual-entry discount.

Please note: The person listed on your registration form as the contact person is the ONLY person who will receive ALL communications from us prior to the tournament. We will be communicating each step in the process toward tourney readiness with this person.

Early Bird Discount

The Early Bird Registration Deadline is September 1st, 2017.

If your team's registration is in and all fees paid by this time, you can take a $50 discount, making your registration fee only $350 for varsity; $300 for JV!! Use the same form as above to register today!

Tournament Format

The format structure for varsity will follow closely the previous format of 2014. Adjustments are made each year to coincide with the number of teams registered to participate. Each team will participate in two divisions of pool play. How each team comes out in pool play will then determine their position for bracket play on Friday and Saturday. Teams will compete in one of 4 divisions: Gold, Silver, Bronze I or Bronze II. As soon as we know how many teams are participating, and coaches have submitted ALL requested forms regarding their current season, we will configure seating and all format details. This should be available for viewing on the website (coach's page) about one week before the tourney. At the Coaches' meeting on Wednesday, November 1st, we will go over the details and answer questions. Each team will need to provide a scorekeeper, scoreboard, and line judges for all pool play. In tournament play, refs will provide some court workers for some games in the Gold and Silver divisions.

For the JV and junior high tournaments, we will determine how many divisions we will have after the registration deadline and more details will be sent to you at that time. We plan to use the same basic format as varsity but adjusted for how many teams we have registered. Please plan to provide scorekeeper, scoreboard operator, and line judges for all pool play and some of the bracket play for JV as well.

Opening/Closing Ceremonies

We will begin our tournament with prayer at the conclusion of the coaches' meeting. Each day tournament play will begin with an opening prayer.

Closing Ceremonies will begin immediately following the Gold division championship game on Saturday afternoon. At this time each team is recognized. Top finishing teams in each division will be awarded individual medals as well as second place finishers in Gold, Silver and Bronze; and third place finishers in Gold. This year MVP's and All Tournament teams from each division will be awarded. The Sherry Dick Sportsmanship award is given to one qualifying team.


Sue Mailhot will again be our Head Referee. She is nationally known, organizing many large tournaments throughout the country. She will work closely with us during tournament action to keep play on schedule. Always be prepared for a court reassignment sometime during the tournament. Please be flexible and help us out in this regard so the tournament can run according to schedule.

Practice Schedule

Wednesday, November 1st practice slots will be limited. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity. We will let you know by email prior to the tournament when your team has been reserved a spot. This year the fee is $25.00 /team (one hour).

Dress Code

Our goal is MODESTY:

  1. Shorts - no spandex allowed as outerwear; at least a 4" inseam so that undergarments or buttocks are completely covered. Soffee shorts, and many of the current Nike shorts have a 3" inseam and are not allowed. Please choose shorts that are not form fitting, as they can appear to be spandex, even with a 4" inseam.
  2. Tops must fit so that sports bras are not revealed. Racerbacks are allowed, but not encouraged, and midriffs should not be exposed while standing.
  3. All uniforms must be worn properly at all times.

Please don't disrupt this event by making other coaches or parents uncomfortable enough to bring your team to the attention of the directorship.

Hospitality Room

A hospitality room will be provided for coaches and referees. There will be a designated area for you to sit and relax during the busy weekend. We look forward to visiting with many of you and giving you a taste of Warrior hospitality!


This year we will offer a $500.00 scholarship to one homeschool senior participant in our tournament. It is our aim to bless the homeschooling community by giving back to the athletes for their continued success in the future. Team Buddies

We offer teams the opportunity to build friendship with another participating team. In the past, teams have brought small memento's from their part of the country or some tasty treats. They may have a meal or snack together. Let us know by email if you are interested and we will assign your team to one from another state. You will be able to communicate with each other prior to the tourney and cheer each other on during the tournament.


Each year we sell T-shirts / Hoodies designed specially for the National Tournament. The shirt design is posted on the website before the tourney and pre-orders are encouraged. Limited quantities are available during the tourney and we will not be taking orders at that time. Pre-orders will be delivered to coaches at the Coaches' meeting. Give us a second contact person on your registration form, as the contact for ordering t-shirts.


Sarpy county has many hotels which will offer special discounts to NHSVBT teams. Our Sarpy county tourism contact will provide information about special rates, which will then be included in this section of the website.
